Three American golfers are heading to China to compete on the international indoor golf stage. Doug Piesko, Brandon Barrows and Jason Bustos have qualified for the 2026 GOLFZON China Open after finishing among the top three players in the GOLFZON Tour Season 3 Individual Qualifying.
The three qualifiers will represent the United States at the four-day tournament, scheduled for December 17–20, 2026, at the new CityGolf venue in Chengdu, China. The event features a 20 million CNY prize purse, approximately $3 million USD, with 5 million CNY awarded to the winner.
Their qualification highlights the opportunities that GOLFZON’s indoor golf competition platform creates for players to compete beyond their local facilities and pursue international competition.
Meet the Three U.S. Qualifiers for the 2026 GOLFZON China Open
Piesko, Barrows and Bustos earned their invitations through their performances in September’s GOLFZON Tour Season 3 Individual Qualifying.
- Doug Piesko: First place at 17 under par, earning $10,000.
- Brandon Barrows: Second place at 16 under par, earning $5,000.
- Jason Bustos: Third place at 15 under par, earning $2,500.
The top three finishers earned invitations to the GOLFZON China Open in addition to their individual qualifying prize money.
Piesko and Barrows previously competed together on Tee Times, the Detroit, Michigan-based team that won GOLFZON Tour Season 2. Bustos helped secure Golf Envy’s Season 1 championship by sinking the winning putt.
Now, all three players will reunite to represent the United States in an international field featuring competitors from the Americas, Europe and other regions.
Brandon Barrows Looks Forward to Competing in China
For Barrows, qualifying for the GOLFZON China Open represents an opportunity to compete internationally, experience a new indoor golf venue and play for a significant prize purse.
It’s a life-changing opportunity to compete at the GOLFZON China Open. To be able to travel to China and compete in the new CityGolf venue and playing for a purse with millions of dollars is incredible. I look forward to competing against the best players in the world. It’s amazing that indoor golf competition gives you opportunity to play at such a high level.

Season 3 features multiple stages that give eligible players and teams opportunities to advance through the competition.

CityGolf Chengdu Introduces a New Indoor Golf Experience
The 2026 GOLFZON China Open will give Piesko, Barrows and Bustos the opportunity to compete at a CityGolf venue for the first time.
CityGolf combines golf simulator technology with a physical short-game area, creating an indoor golf experience that extends beyond virtual course play. Players can transition from simulator shots to physical shots around the green, bringing more elements of the game into one indoor environment.
When players reach the green, the projector screen rolls up to reveal an artificial playing surface where they can chip, putt and hit shots from a bunker. After completing each hole, players move to the next setup to continue their round.
The Chengdu venue features 18 simulators and greens representing 18 different holes, combining virtual golf with physical short-game play in a single facility.
The first CityGolf venue in the United States is expected to open in Nashville later in 2026, bringing this approach to indoor golf entertainment to the U.S. market.
The 2026 GOLFZON China Open Expands International Indoor Golf Competition
The 2026 GOLFZON China Open represents a significant expansion of the event, opening the field to players from the Americas and Europe for the first time.
The tournament’s 20 million CNY prize purse doubles the amount offered in 2025 and is four times the 2024 purse. The winner will receive 5 million CNY, approximately $700,000 USD based on the approximate conversion of the total purse.
Former professional golfers, including Na Yeon Choi, Yani Tseng and Chella Choi, are also slated to compete in December.
For Piesko, the event offers another opportunity to compete internationally after his experience winning GOLFZON Tour Season 2.
When I was competing in the GOLFZON Tour Individual Qualifying, my goal was to qualify for the GOLFZON China Open. I got to experience playing against GTOUR players in Korea thanks to winning the GOLFZON Tour Season 2 and I look forward to seeing them again in China. It’ll be a lot of fun and huge thank you to GOLFZON for providing this opportunity. I want to represent the US region well.
Bustos also sees the tournament as an opportunity to demonstrate what indoor golf competition can offer players.
I couldn’t believe the purse when I first heard about the GOLFZON China Open. I never would have thought you could compete for such a big purse on playing indoor golf, let alone be able to travel to China. GOLFZON’s been incredible and a frontrunner in indoor golf competition and I look forward to representing Golf Envy and the US in China. This is a dream come true.
As indoor golf continues to expand internationally, GOLFZON Tour provides a platform for players to compete, connect across locations and pursue opportunities beyond their home facilities.
