The golf simulator industry is changing how and where people experience the game, and GOLFZON continues to play a leading role in that evolution.
GOLFZON America’s CEO Sean Pyun recently joined The GBT Podcast from Golf Business Technology to discuss the global growth of indoor golf, the technology driving the industry forward and the opportunities simulator golf creates for both players and operators.
During the Season 6, Episode 6 conversation, Pyun shared insights into GOLFZON’s global presence, the evolution of the golf simulator business and why off-course golf can play an important role in growing the game.
Making Golf More Accessible
Putting clubs in the hands of people.
One of the central themes of the conversation was accessibility. Indoor golf gives players the opportunity to experience the game regardless of weather, location or time constraints, creating more opportunities for experienced golfers and newcomers alike.
He pointed to GOLFZON’s success in South Korea as an example of how simulator golf can provide a more inclusive environment for beginners and help introduce more people to the game.
That accessibility is one reason the indoor golf business continues to evolve. A commercial golf simulator can provide an approachable entry point to the game while giving experienced golfers another way to practice, play and compete throughout the year.
GOLFZON has taken that commitment to accessibility around the world. Pyun shared that the company previously sent a simulator to researchers at the South Pole, despite the logistical challenges and no expectation of revenue, simply providing access to golf and support for their well-being.
GOLFZON is also supporting the International Golf Federation in Senegal around the 2026 Youth Olympic Games. The company plans to provide simulator technology to introduce more people to golf and leave the system in Senegal afterward to help support the country’s golf infrastructure.
Golf Simulator Technology Designed for an Immersive Experience
Pyun also discussed the golf simulator technology behind the GOLFZON experience and the importance of recreating the challenges golfers encounter on the course.
GOLFZON’s TwoVisionNX commercial golf simulator combines a moving swing plate that recreates 56,000 different lies and slopes with a multi-surface hitting mat for fairway, rough and bunker conditions. Automated ball tee-up and retrieval create a seamless experience, while Unreal Engine 5-powered graphics bring courses to life on screen.
Beyond the individual simulator, GOLFZON’s Network Play technology connects thousands of golfers simultaneously across locations for simulator golf leagues, tournaments and other competitive experiences.
When asked to choose his favorite technology, Pyun pointed to Network Play first, but also highlighted how operator feedback inspired GOLFZON’s Auto-Tee system, which helps reduce the time needed to complete a round.
New Opportunities for the Golf Simulator Business
The continued growth of the golf simulator industry is creating new opportunities for operators and businesses.
One of GOLFZON’s most exciting projects is CityGolf, a concept Pyun described as the culmination of the company’s technology and its founder’s vision for a “hybrid golf” experience that can be played regardless of weather or daylight.
Following existing CityGolf locations in China, GOLFZON recently announced its first U.S. location in Nashville, Tennessee. The concept creates a sequential 18-hole indoor golf experience that combines simulator play with dedicated green and short-game areas.
Pyun also emphasized that indoor and outdoor golf shouldn’t be viewed as competitors.
Whether you’re indoor or outdoor, it’s not that one is better than the other, it’s simply different.
Connecting Indoor and Traditional Golf
Rather than competing with traditional golf, off-course golf can serve as a gateway to the course.
Indoor golf gives new players an approachable environment to learn the game and build confidence before playing outdoors. For existing golfers, simulator technology creates even more opportunities to stay connected to the game through practice, competition and social play.
Pyun sees that relationships are becoming even more important in the future. When asked what percentage of new golfers’ first swings could take place indoors on a simulator rather than at an outdoor range in 10 years, his answer was simple: “90%.”
By making golf more accessible and creating more ways to participate, indoor and traditional golf can work together toward the same goal: growing the game.
The Future of Indoor Golf
As golf continues to evolve, technology is creating more ways for people to participate in the sport.
GOLFZON’s combination of realistic golf simulator technology connected competition and commercial solutions is helping operators create new experiences while giving players more opportunities to enjoy the game.
We’re all part of the ecosystem. We want everybody to enjoy the game of golf.
