Inside George Mason Softball’s GOLFZON Experience
The George Mason softball team was in for a surprise treat. In the weeks leading up to the season, the team dedicates Fridays to bonding activities.
Past team outings have included a Washington Nationals game and a night of bowling. Most recently, the 19 players and two coaches visited GOLFZON’s Virginia showroom, where they experienced the TwoVisionNX, the most advanced golf simulator available today.
This was a total surprise for us... walked in and the girls’ faces absolutely lit up the room. Having the whole place to ourselves was really awesome.
The visit reflects how universities and athletic programs are increasingly turning to golf simulator businesses and indoor golf solutions to give athletes a fun, competitive and weather-proof experience.
Bringing Competition Indoors & Strengthening Bonds Beyond the Field
Most players from the softball team don’t actually play golf, but that didn’t matter. The team brought its competitive energy to the driving range and arcade games, with a few even teaming up for a scramble on the simulators.
The experience highlights how commercial golf simulators are transforming recreation for university campuses and their athletic departments. For schools, facilities or entrepreneurs looking at how to start a golf simulator business, creating spaces like this fosters team bonding and introduces more people to the game year-round.
It’s super important to have a day like this... Obviously, on the field, we bond in a different way. But doing this really helps us build a culture as a team.
You can practice all you want, but camaraderie is what’s going to win us games. Bonding will make us better in the long run, so this opportunity has been so amazing for us.
Moments like these show why indoor golf businesses are becoming central gathering spots for schools and local communities.
Sports Technology Driving the Golf Simulator Business Model
For a kinesiology major like Pickford, the visit was particularly eye-opening.
I’m learning about biomechanics and I know this type of stuff plays a role in that... Understanding how advanced this technology is blows my mind. Being able to see data on my swing — trajectory, distance, power, everything — was the coolest thing ever.
Bringing Golf to Every Campus
Just 10 miles from our Virginia showroom, George Mason University is one of several colleges in the DMV, and across the country, building meaningful partnerships with GOLFZON.
By adding state-of-the-art golf simulators directly on campus, universities can make golf more accessible to students of all backgrounds and skill levels. This growing interest in indoor play is helping schools enhance recreation, attract new audiences, and tap into the rising success of the indoor golf industry.
GOLFZON is proud to collaborate with universities and business owners nationwide, helping them create engaging, tech-driven golf experiences that bring people together and introduce the sport to a whole new generation.
