A Virtual Look at Bethpage Black
LPGA player Nataliya Guseva got a taste of Bethpage Black Golf Course, site of the 2025 Ryder Cup, on a GOLFZON simulator at Pacific Pines Golf & Social Club, located in Beaverton, Oregon. Ahead of where the golf’s most fierce team competition will take place, she played 18 holes at Bethpage Black, one of the more popular GOLFZON courses, leading up to the September event.
Preparing for the Ryder Cup
That’s going to be a crazy one... I’m kind of rooting for Europe, but we’ll see. I think the US definitely has a bigger chance to win this one.
Guseva said she’s particularly looking forward to the rivalry between Bryson DeChambeau and Rory McIlroy.
“They’re the best players in the world,” she said. “Anyone would love to see that crazy fight out there, I think.”
Building Momentum in Portland
The 22-year-old stopped by the indoor golf facility in August ahead of the Standard Portland Classic, where she finished runner-up at Columbia Edgewater Country Club in 2024, her best career finish in her two-year stint at the LPGA.
The good vibes carried on to Pacific Pines Golf & Social Club.
Growing up Training on GOLFZON Sims
Guseva had played indoor golf on GOLFZON simulators growing up in Russia, where it can be cold for long stretches. In fact, she often used GOLFZON to practice for tournaments. Nevertheless, she needed a few holes to get used to playing on the TwoVision system. When asked when’s the last time she started a round with four consecutive bogeys, she couldn’t help but laugh.
Mini-me would say, ‘Oh my gosh, this is a crazy score.’ I remember when I played on GOLFZON before, I would shoot four- or five-under... Still awesome though. It’s cool that people can do this in any type of weather, and enjoy playing golf at the same time.
While playing Bethpage Black, she also talked about her second year on the LPGA. While she noted it can be lonely playing on the Tour, golf allows her to travel to places many people wouldn’t get to visit. She cited the Asia swing as an example. Guseva ended up finishing +6, an incredible score considering it was the first time she played virtual golf in a very long time and that she was +6 after her first six holes.
Dreaming of Her Own Simulator with Realistic Graphics and Fast Play
When I get a house, it’ll be a dream to have a GOLFZON simulator in my backyard. I’m planning to buy one soon, and then I can have my own simulator at home.
Guseva was particularly impressed with the graphics on the 17th hole. The graphics, powered by UNREAL ENGINE, provided her with life-like graphics that made her feel like she was standing on the tee box at 17, one of the signature holes of the course.
She also mentioned how quickly she can play with the auto-tee system and zero latency. Despite shooting a 77, she managed to complete her round in less than an hour.
A Country Club Vibe Indoors
Add in the vibe of indoor golf facility, Pacific Pines Golf & Social Club, and it really felt like home for Guseva.
This is great because people can play in any weather, whether it’s hot, rainy, or cold...With a simulator like GOLFZON, they can enjoy golf year-round.
